If the North is cluttered, stagnant, or blocked by heavy Predecessor Qi, you block the main flow of wisdom and wealth for the next twenty years.

The rituals described here are designed specifically for this Fire era. They use the combination of salt, sound, and intention to burn off the old and activate the new.

Method 1: Salt and Sage

This method handles the heavy work of space clearing rituals. It combines the air and fire elements of smudging with the water and metal elements of the salt cure.

The first step is the Smudging Sage Release. While White Sage is standard for heavy clearing, you can also use Palo Santo for sealing after the clear. The technique for a previously owned home is different from regular maintenance clearing. Don't just wave the bundle around randomly. Start at the front door. Move counter-clockwise through the entire property. In energy work, clockwise motion brings things in, while counter-clockwise motion removes and banishes. You're unwinding the history of the house.

To make a Salt Water Cure, fill a glass jar three-quarters full with rock salt or sea salt. Place six Chinese coins (representing Metal) on top of the salt in a circle. Carefully fill the jar with water until it's almost full. Put this jar on a plate to protect your floor, because salt crystals will grow and overflow over time.

You must place these cures in areas affected by the Number 5 Yellow Star (bad luck) or the Number 2 Black Star (sickness) for the current year. Check a current flying star chart to find these areas. The reaction between the salt, water, and metal creates a powerful cleaning field that absorbs the residue moved by your smudging. Don't cover the jar. It needs to interact with the air to work properly.

Method 2: Rice and Salt

This is an ancient method, often kept secret within traditional Feng Shui families. It's a Taoist method used to bless land and respect local spirits, known as Tu Di Gong, before renovation or moving in. This method is the secret for removing stubborn, deep-seated energy that sage can't reach.

You'll need a mixture of uncooked rice and sea salt. The rice represents the abundance of the Earth, while the salt represents purification. For stronger clearing, especially if the house has a history of serious illness or violence, mix in Sichuan peppercorns or dried Mugwort. These additions bring strong Yang heat to burn through Yin stagnation.

Mix these ingredients in a large bowl using your hands. This contact is important; you're putting your intention into the physical materials. The application is physical and forceful. Stand in the center of a room, the balance point. Take a handful of the mixture and throw it hard toward the edges of the room. You want the grains to hit the baseboards and corners with sound.

As you throw, state your command clearly: "Old energy out, new blueprint in." You're claiming the space. Do this in every room, moving from the back of the house toward the front door.

Once the mixture is scattered, you must leave it. Don't sweep it up right away. It needs to sit for 24 hours to absorb the heavy Yin Qi from the floors. After 24 hours, vacuum or sweep the mixture. This debris is now toxic waste. Don't put it in your kitchen trash. It must be bagged and thrown away immediately in an outside bin, preferably off your property.

Do you see a sharp roofline from a neighbor pointing directly at your door? This is a Poison Arrow. Do you see a road rushing straight toward your house? This is a Tiger Mouthing setup. These forms carry aggressive, fast-moving harmful energy that can break through your space clearing efforts.

Don't panic, but don't ignore them. For a road rushing at your home, the cure is a physical barrier. Build a low hedge, a fence, or a small hill to slow the Qi before it hits your door. For sharp angles or poison arrows, a convex Ba Gua mirror hung above your door is the standard cure. It deflects the incoming aggression.
